If some food can clean your house, then there should be some stuff that you can eat to get your out of a bad mood, or when you are feeling a bit tired and down or just sluggish.
No I do not mean energy drinks or an energy bar. There are certain things that you can eat to lift your spirits or boost your energy levels. Some of them are:-
Dark chocolate is made with a high proportion of cocoa and contains high amounts of the antioxidant molecules, the flavonoids and the phenolic phytochemicals known for their positive health benefits.
The darker the chocolate you eat, the better. A small square of dark chocolate can cause the brain to release endorphins and boost serotonin levels. Studies shows that chocolate eaters produce less stress hormones and have lower anxiety levels.
There's yet another good reason to eat a banana a day. Bananas boost serotonin and dopamine production. It's the potassium in bananas that make them such a good snack for those feeling stressed or tired.
Eggs are a good source of the vital nutrient choline. Choline has been shown to have a number of vital functions including optimal cell membrane function and neuro transmission thought to be related to mood and energy levels.
Walnuts are an excellent source of omega-3 essential fatty acids, a type of healthy fat that's needed for brain cells and mood-lifting neurotransmitters to function properly and may help with depression.
Whole Grains/Brown Rice/ Brown Pasta/Oatmeal
Eating carbohydrates boosts serotonin levels (thereby, have a calming, soothing effect), and slow-release 'complex' carbs keep you sustained, helping you to stay mellow and preventing between-meals rattiness.
Turkey and chicken
Turkey and chicken are rich in tyrosine, an amino acid that can help the body cope with stress.
Turkey is high in phenylalanine, an amino acid which the brain converts to dopamine, a neurochemical that elevates mood and motivation and prevents depression. Plus, the addition of protein in your meal will also help slow the absorption of other carbohydrate foods eaten.
