If you are not one for exercises and are looking for a way to reduce your belly size, then you can breathe easy because it is not impossible.
As we have found out in recent posts, certain foods do a lot more than just get rid of our hunger. On that note, I would like to tell you that you can happily eat your way to a flatter stomach.
You might argue that reducing or cutting down on your eating is what will help you loose some flesh, but eating some foods in the right quantity, can help the process along.
Here are some foods that you can eat that are know to reduce or cut down belly fat.
Avocados are a healthful food rich in monounsaturated fats. This type of fat increases your basal metabolic rate, promoting belly fat loss, CBS News reported in May 2009. Avocados are also rich in beta-sitosterol, which lowers cholesterol levels.
Slice an avocado on salads or your favourite sandwich or blend it into your morning smoothie each day.
Unlike refined grains such as white rice and white flour, whole grains such as oatmeal are rich in fiber, which helps you stay full on fewer calories and can help you lose belly weight. Whole grains also happen to be rich in chromium and magnesium, which can control two hormones that encourage fat to pile in the midsection, according to "Parenting" magazine.
Aim for at least three half-cup servings of whole grains per day, and don't feel limited to oatmeal. Brown rice and 100 percent whole-wheat bread also count as whole grains.
According to "Fitness" magazine, dieters who eat three apples daily lose more weight than non-apple eating dieters. An apple contains 5 g of fiber and 85 percent water. This helps you feel full on fewer calories. Apples also contain the compound quercetin which offers protection against some cancers.
Eat an apple or two daily to promote midsection fat loss.
Cutting down on fried, fatty, calorie-rich foods in order to obtain lean abs is a must. What's great about lean proteins like fish, tofu, or turkey meat, is that they provide you with lots of energy and burn more calories when digested.
When choosing a fish, try salmon or tuna since they are both high in omega-3s, which reduce inflammation in the body and can help regulate your hormones.
Eat about two 4 oz. servings of salmon weekly. If you don't enjoy eating salmon, other foods high in omega-3 fatty acids are walnuts and flaxseed.
Low-fat yogurt as well as milk and other dairy products contain a protein called whey. This protein can help your body build muscle mass, meaning that your belly is less likely to pile on calories from dairy foods. Though dairy in general can help you keep a slimmer waistline, yogurt may be especially helpful in reducing belly fat, according to research published in the January 2005 issue of the "International Journal of Obesity."
Aim for at least three 1-cup servings of dairy per day, and make most of your yogurt servings low in fat and sugar.
Almonds and Other Nuts
Nuts slim your tummy by keeping it full.
Stick to 24 almonds a day to satisfy your hunger pangs without overloading on calories. Skip salted nuts; too much sodium raises blood pressure.
PS: Just eating these will not give you that ripped tummy with the abs. Exercise also plays a role so you can't quite escape it. Just try to find what works for you.
